Bio

Hello, my name is Angel Grace King, I am a Los Angeles based artist with a focus on sculpture. Using found materials and intense processes, I explore and combine the genres of sculpture, photography, video, installation, and painting to describe personal experiences as a commentary on the phycological and societal experience. Born in Ellijay Georgia, a small town in the deep south, I utilizes my past relationships to analyze patriarchal systems. With a  ritualistic and labor intensive process based approach, I manipulate found material like used mattresses, clothes, and furniture; transforming domestic and daily objects. I seek to blur the lines between body, memory, and object, utilizing the uncanny to create a intense affect from the viewer. Combining my personal experiences to comment on heavy themes such as trauma, abuse, sexuality, and the foster care system, the personal becomes a gateway to talk about issues found throughout society. I received My BA from UCLA, and have exhibited in UCLA, LBCC, Angels Gate, Verge center for the Arts, LBMX, and notable others.
